Course at NLC ‘How to be More Assertive’
A course on ‘How to be More Assertive’ is being offered by Northern Lakes College. The course will take place at the Slave Lake Campus March 4, 2009 and will run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. The cost is $199 + GST or $179 + GST when sending 2 or more from an organization.

Winterhawks start playoffs on home ice Saturday
The Slave Lake Winterhawks start the playoff season on Saturday with home ice advantage. The first round of the playoffs against Athabasca will get underway at the Arctic Ice Centre at 8:00 pm.

Expanded recall for Hygaard Sandwich Products
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Hygaard Fine foods are warning the public not to consume certain Hygaard brand sandwich products because they might be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
The sandwich products listed below are affected by this alert and have been distributed in Alberta as well as other provinces.

Slave Lake contributes to World Record Attempt
The Slave Lake Boys and Girls Club and the Library participated in the Guinness Book of World Record Reading Challenge on Friday, January 23. Constable Ray Tardiff was the reader for the five required Robert Munsch stories.
