Sharing the wealth
With the bills and loose change still rolling in from last week’s Sport Celebrity Dinner featuring Oilers’ coach Pat Quinn and rookie Jordon Eberle, Slave Lake’s Rotary Club decided it was time to begin sharing.
First stop was Roland Michener Secondary School where Rotarian Sheri Smears presented a $1,000 cheque to Music Support Society rep Ellen Criss.
The money was Rotary’s thank-you to members of the junior high band class that cleaned highway ditches on Rotary’s behalf recently. Appearing with the band are members of the senior high band class.
The second cheque – this one for $10,000 – pays the commitment made to Northern Haven Women’s Shelter earlier this year. Rotary President Lenny Richer hands the money to shelter reps (l-r) Lori Favel, vice chair, Chair Linda Munroe, Co-chair Lynne Haas and Director Sharon Proctor.
