Do you have “lost money”? Find out!

money

You may have hundreds or even thousands of dollars sitting in a bank account you have forgotten about and it is easy to find out. A free online Unclaimed Balance Search is provided free of charge by the Bank of Canada.

To find out if you have ‘lost money’ click here for the Unclaimed Balance Search. Enter your name and province, and search.  If you have lived in more than one province, try your search using all provinces.  If your name has changed, try a search using your maiden name.

If you have an unclaimed balance, the results will list the account number and the bank you left it in.

To claim the funds, complete a claim form which you can obtain from the site and follow the instructions.

If all the necessary documentation is provided, claims are processed and paid within 30 to 60 days.

Millions of dollars are being held in dormant bank accounts. At the end of December 2008, the Bank of Canada was holding $351 million dollars in some 1,023,000 unclaimed accounts.

We are aware of at least $3,600.00 sitting in unclaimed bank accounts from Slave Lake.

Maybe some of that money is yours?  Check it out and let us know how you did.
