Solar Home Design offered live online
NLC Workforce Development is offering an “Alternative Energy & Energy Efficiency Series LIVE Online from October, 2009 to April 2010. (Dates listed below).
The first course in the series “Solar Home Design“will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. The fee for the 3 hour course is $59.00 plus GST. Participants must have a Windows or Macintosh computer with high speed internet connection.
The “Solar Home Design” course will explain the basic principals and techniques of passive solar design. If you are considering building a new home, remodeling, or a builder or designer then this course is for you.
Some of the topics include; sun tempered vs passive solar design, remodeling options and energy efficient techniques.
The course facilitator is Rob Harlan, Executive Director of the Northern Alberta Chapter of the Solar Energy Society of Canada and presently teaches Renewable Energy at Grant MacEwan College. As a Solar Contractor and General Building Contractor in California Mr. Harlan designed and built energy-efficient, passive solar homes. Mr. Harlan has also lived for twenty-five years in an off-grid house powered and heated by the sun.
